The Shenzhen American International School announces an opening for a Classroom Teacher for the 2018-19 School Year.  The specific assignment will be

Shenzhen American International School, Shenzhen’s First and Finest Project-Based Learning School, is a private school serving students from the Early Learning Environment through Grade 8.  SAIS delivers a curriculum based on American national content standards through a blend of project-based learning and traditional approaches.  The school has a dedicated maker space, and participates in local maker faires and exhibitions of learning.  SAIS faculty members are in high demand as speakers and consultants in the areas of project-based learning and maker education.

Required characteristics include:

·         A strong commitment to designing deep learning experiences

·         An understanding of the role of assessment in the learning process

·         Strong collaboration skills

·         A work ethic that is commensurate with the demands of project-based learning

·         The open-mindedness necessary for success in a private international school in Shenzhen

·         Current and valid certification for the posted position

·         Compliance with the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China as they pertain to international schools

Highly desirable characteristics include:

·         Training and/or experience in project-based learning

·         Training and/or experience in International Baccalaureate schools

·         Training and/or experience in English Language Learner education

·         Teaching experience in private international schools, particularly in China

School Nurse

Job Description:

l  Do morning temperature checking for the students during school days, if the physical temperature is over 37℃, check again and contact the parent immediately, it’s suggested to send to the hospital or home according to its physical situation.

l  Read the newspaper and keep in touch with disease prevention center, prevent chronic infectious disease like Hand, foot and mouth disease, pink eye, sand holes, the H5N1 avian influenza, intestinal typhoid fever, cholera etc. If there is a case, it shall be reported to the school department and informed the parents by either precaution letter or a call.

l  Collect the physical information of students, form a file to keep record of allergic students, and inform the teachers.

l  Set up an emergency contact card.

l  Disinfect the nurse room, and guide and supervise the cleaner to disinfect the classroom furniture and floors, toys with 84 Disinfectant

l  Keep tracking of the treatment and recovery for the students who are sick or have emergency.

l  Make sure that the medicine is not expired.

l  Assist to communicate with insurance company and process the accident insurance purchase for students;

l  Guide and assist the parents to set up children insurance if they need help.

l  If admin staff is busy, assist to copy, staple or do reception.

l  Other duties assigned by the head. 

Required Qualification:

l  Bachelor degree in nursery is preferential

l Excellent command of written and Oral English

l  Highly organized, a strong team player and can communicate with parents independently

l  At least two year nursery experiences
